The Social Journey (ages 2-5)
As this journey is aimed at younger children there is more room for adult involvement. We encourage parents to read the picture book with their child and help them, if needed, to complete the exercises in the activity book. We always encourage parents to talk to their children about the words they are learning because research has proven this really helps aid retention.
The Narrative Journey (ages 6-13)
The daily exercise is designed so that it can be completed independently by children who are readers. For children who are still mastering reading, they will need a parent or helper with sufficient reading skills to understand how to get started.
We do encourage parents to engage in conversation with their children about the words, in order to better progress and reinforce their learning. Just 10 minutes a day will make a significant difference to their reading and writing ability. That’s why each month you get a fresh deck of cards that you can use to help your child practise the words and to talk about them.
